The Bible Way To Heaven
We would love for you to visit us and consider making Cornerstone your church home! But what is even more important than finding a church home is knowing where your home will be when this life is over. The Bible tells us how we can know for sure that Heaven will be our eternal home! Please read on to see what the Bible has to say about Heaven.
- GOD LOVES ALL PEOPLE AND WANTS EVERYONE TO SPEND ETERNITY IN HEAVEN WITH HIM.
Consider the words of Jesus in John 14:
John 14:2-3 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
If Jesus has gone to prepare a place for people and desires to bring them to Himself, it is for one reason – He desires a relationship with you! God, in the Person of Jesus Christ, wants to bring you to Him, because He loves you. Most of us have heard the verse John 3:16:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
God loves you so much that He would give anything, even His Son Jesus Christ, to bring you into a relationship with Himself – a relationship that exists in this life, but then continues eternally in heaven.
- HOWEVER, BECAUSE OF SIN, WE ARE UNWORTHY TO ENTER GOD’S PRESENCE IN HEAVEN.
While God loves us and wants us to come into His presence, there is a barrier to coming to Him, and that is sin. God is holy and perfect and our sin keeps us from Him. Look at what the Bible says in the book of Romans:
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
These verses express the idea that everyone has sinned, and for that reason we fall short of being able to enter into God’s presence. The Bible states in these verses that sin (the breaking of God’s laws and commands) deserves God’s punishment. Thus, God says the wages (i.e. cost) of our sin is death, but this does not just mean physical death; it stands for the fact that we are dead to God, and therefore separated from Him for all eternity as well.
- SO GOD’S SON, JESUS CHRIST, CAME TO EARTH, DIED, AND ROSE AGAIN TO PAY FOR THE SIN OF EVERY PERSON.
Though our sin deserves punishment, we must not forget that God loves us. In fact, the Bible says “God is love.” (I John 4:8). God does not quit loving us because we sin, but He will judge sin. However, because of His love God made a way to have our sins forgiven:
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
God showed His love for us by sending Jesus Christ, His Son, to take the form of man and die as a perfect sacrifice in our place. Think of that: God loved us so much that He sent His Son to fully suffer the judgment of sin. Jesus was whipped, mocked, brutally beaten, paraded through Jerusalem, forced to carry His cross, and then crucified, all to fulfil the debt of sin we owe. This death was necessary to pay the price for our sins. However, this was not the end – to prove that He was and is God, Jesus arose from the dead after three days.
- IF YOU WILL TURN FROM YOUR SIN, AND PRAY IN FAITH ASKING JESUS TO BE YOUR SAVIOUR, HE WILL SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SIN AND GIVE YOU A HOME IN HEAVEN WITH HIM FOR ETERNITY.
Jesus did all of this for you. He wants to forgive your sins. He wants it so much that Jesus did everything necessary for you to be saved.
Today if you believe that, the Bible tells you how to go to Him for salvation. Romans gives very plain directions:
Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
If you believe you are a sinner, and you believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God died for your sins, then today you can be saved. All you have to do is call upon Him, repent of your sins, and accept Him as your only means of salvation. If you do this, the Bible tells us you are eternally forgiven and saved from your sins.
If you do this, you enter into the start of a beautiful relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. This will be the start of a new life that will be an unbelievable journey on this earth as well as in eternity in Heaven.
